Just listened to the SCO/Mackerras this evening. I bought the discs when they first came out but have no recollection of playing the 'Linz'
Anyway, it's very fine indeed and with a full clutch of repeats clocks in at over 36 minutes. Definitely a live contender and Alison could have picked us a winner here."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

That's what they did with symphonies in those days - interspersed other, more interesting music In short concerts anyway - Zaslaw Mozart's Symphonies p.342; "...on a short programme the finale of the opening symphony might be saved for the conclusion".
And Franz Clement inserted trick virtuoso trifles, including playing the violin upside down, between movements of Beethoven's Violin Concerto at its premiere! I think HIPP should take this practice fully into account more often, so well done to Gerhaher ( see #5)I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
