Very illuminating thanks and nice and cheap as I have the top three already . Was very taken by the NYPO/Gardner so may well investigate .I confess I rather like Steinberg’s accents in Mars they remind me of when the piece was written and strike me as reminiscent of WW1 machine gun fire.
The 1978 Boult is one of the few Warner single CDs still in existence - it has the inestimable benefit of being coupled with his magical 1970 LSO recording of the Enigma Variations.Last edited by Barbirollians; 12-01-25, 10:06.
