Incidentally, this piece has only been covered by BaL once before, in January 2007, when Roderick Swanston chose Menahem Pressler with the Emerson Quartet. It's coupled with their recording of the piano quintet, which was William Mival's first choice in December 2000.

I enjoyed this BAL and it was notable how MFW asked whether she was allowed to pick such an old recording . It is clear it is discouraged and all hail the reviewers that choose them when they consider they are the best.

If anyone is looking for a CD version of this recommendation which doesn't cost a fortune or involve buying 59 other CDs, it seems to be available as a former covermount CD from the French Classica magazine's web site. It only costs €5.90 on their web site + however much extra you need to pay to get it sent to the UK: https://www.musique-magazines.fr/sit...e/produit.html
