I have Blomstedt/SFS one and Myun wyun Chung and I was wondering the Oramo? Essential then?

David Patrick Stearns' very amusing & stimulating Collection feature for 3/2015 Gramo was nothing if not quirky - in prose style and conclusions... his choices were:
"Vocal Choice": Gothenburg SO/Jarvi (DG).
"Operatic Choice": Odense SO/Serov (Kontrapunkt)**
"Extreme Choice": Royal Danish SO/Bernstein (Sony) "After listening, you may end up feeling as sweaty as Bernstein...".
Top Choice was NYPO/Gilbert on Da Capo. Stearns says that Oramo would have been a top contender save for his "in-and-out-of-focus first movement".
I disagree. Strongly. For me, Oramo's a head or two ahead of Gilbert, but I love both.
** Layton dismissed this release unequivocally..."uncompetitive... a disappointment" etc., 11/95.
Nielsen always does divide the critics...Last edited by jayne lee wilson; 01-06-15, 18:46.
