I assume we are talking about CPE Bach Magnificat, WQ 215.

I think I once read a review of a disc that contained both Magnificats in question here, and the reviewer opined that the Bach fil bested the pere

When one looks back over old Bals, it's very difficult to find out what the recommendation was, which is a shame for such an excellent thread.

One could always check the BaL website, where one would find the recommended recordings for several years worth of BaLs
