You can get it from the Marketplace, Bbm, or (probably quicker delivery) from Presto Classical - though in both cases at a couple of quid more than Amazon were asking:

Beethoven: Violin Sonatas & Piano Trios. Harmonia Mundi: HMG508398/99. Buy 2 CDs or download online. Daniel Sepec (violin) & Andreas Staier (fortepiano), Jean-Guihen Queyras (cello)

A two-disc set, with another Piano Trio, a couple of Violin Sonatas and (a nice surprise) a Piano Trio by Hummel.

I enjoyed this BAL - sometimes Harriet Smith gets my back up but this was a straight down the line, well-informed review of the field, ancient and modern. Some interesting comparisons, and sensible conclusions it seemed to me.

One of the versions that caught my attention has been mentioned a lot above - e.g.

                    - the Suk Trio sounded great to me.

The Wanderer & Florestan performance sounded very good. I had a problem with the winner:

Agreed - sounded cavernous. Not a fan of that sort of recording ambiance.

will stick with my Edwin Fischer Trio for now but will be on the alert for the Suk
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

I have, and admire, the Fischer Trio among my recordings, but I think the one that gives me most satisfaction is that by what my old index calls 'Beaux Arts 1', i.e. Giulet, Greenhouse and Pressler. It was issued in the Philips 'Beaux Arts Trio - The Early Years' 3CD box set.

The digital remake that I have mentioned has Josef Hala replacing Panenka. It still seems odd to me that this set was never reviewed anywhere as far as I know.

Florestan for me . Didn't like the winner sounded like it had been recorded in a large empty school hall - and for all Staier's talent the fortepiano seemed a rather overwhelmed .
