Argerich /Horowitz ?

Originally posted by Master Jacques View PostIn passing, JM did mention that there were "three versions", but she omitted to add that the familiar one has limited claims to authenticity, and she did not (alas) mention the excellent Gerstein version of the original, or play anything but the bog standard edition. Still a tremendous BaL, a good deed in a naughty world.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

One of the best BaLs in ages.
P.S. I’ve ordered the Kirill Gernstein / Gattigan CD, coupled with a well-received Prokofiev 2nd Piano Concerto.

One of the best BaLs in ages.
(Having said which, my own personal favourite - not mentioned this morning - remains the high-voltage, capricious Golovanov/Gilels recording from 1940s Moscow, which is anything but subtle!)
