Presumably anything composed before 1800 doesn't count as a "proper" symphony.

Most BALS get 8 pages of posts which is a lot more than most live R3 concerts.. Interestingly and almost inexplicably two BALS seem to top the list in terms of post pages Ein Alpensinfonie (by a massive margin) and Ein Heldenleben
Also in there La Mer - a thread that in its analysis of performing and recording styles is almost worthy of publication,

Easily explained - 3 superb works - I never tire of them. Do you know any serious music person who does not like ‘La Mer’?

Maybe only the Tchaikovsky PC was a duff choice, having being covered fairly recently.

I am looking forward to the Grieg Violin Sonata edition next Saturday, a nice fresh choice.

I don't think that Alpie's even started one off for next week.
Don't worry about that. I rarely forget!

And Strauss's Don Juan is coming up, which will be one hell of a list.

                It wasn't a criticism.

I didn’t think it was for a moment.

Eek, decidedly not an Ode to Joy with him in the chair!
