BaL 12.04.14 - Schubert: Impromptus D899

There are two Brendel Philips (now Decca) versions.The 1970s analogue recording and the later digital one.

Both are currently available, I think. (The former in a Decca 7CD set, if not singly.)

My all-time favourite recording, for the work, is this analogue Brendel.

I have the Uchida, which is my favorite, Schiff, and the Lupu. It is to bad that Uchida is only available by download now, if you are as averse to downloads as I am, but perhaps a used copy of the CD can be had at a reasonable price.
I'd like to hear Kempff and Zimmerman.

To my knowledge Richter has only ever played the 2nd and 4th. I imagine Mr Philip will just deal with full sets?

You may well be correct. The Presto website lists it, but it could be an error.

Ah yes, I think I have that disc in an earlier incarnation, and it is just 2 and 4.
I would love to hear Richter playing the g flat major Impromptu, but alas it is not going to happen!

Another version: Aldo Ciccolini on EMI.

It can be bought, new, from dozens of suppliers on Amazon. Does this mean it is "available" in the Radio 3 sense of the word?

I find much charm in the intimacy of the version recorded by Peter Katin on a square piano.

There is also another fortepiano version on a Virgin twofer by Lambert Orkis:
