Back on topic, I really enjoyed this Bal. Last week I bought the Bowman/Hogwood Vivaldi Stabat Mater and although I have only played it twice, I really like it. Will give it another spin on the cans at the gym this afternoon.
The Pinnock sounds tempting, but given the run on Amazon immediately following the end of today's Bal, the cheapest available copy is now about £2.50 dearer than it was at 10 O'clock!
(although a different issue on 1 CD is available for about five and half quid, excl. P&P)Last edited by Beef Oven!; 05-04-14, 11:10.

BBC Music Mag not so enthusiastic. It's probably worth waiting till Monday to judge for oneself.

Fascinating programme, I thought. My only objection is to the horrible verse translations she offered us.

No , not at all . I dislike hooty contraltos as much as hooty countertenors. I suppose I prefer a purer voiced countertenor to those that sound more like an alto female singer .
