Not forgetting just a few of the bassoon concertos recorded by Danny Bond and the AAM some years ago, they are nice too, great fun.

I just thought the vitriol was going a bit far.
My position? In my music student days, there was general atmosphere of putting down one another's favourite music, as well as blasting fellow musicians at every opportunity. Not everyone was like that, but vitriolic comments were rife, though quite unnecessary. Speaking personally, I could say I was bored by Bruckner. This is not the same as saying Bruckner is a boring composer. Ditto "awful bassoon and mandolin concertos".

I don't know many bassoon concerti but do remember a most enjoyable Supraphon LP with the redoubtable Ars Rediviva from years ago which I still have but haven't played for ages.
