I first fell in love with this wonderful work in 1991 when I attended an amateur performance in Hunmanby Methodist Church. The choir was the Staxton Singers, expertly conducted by the excellent Sue Parker. But it was the wonderful voice of soprano Wendy Goodson that made such an impression. Wendy has done much professional work in Yorkshire, but apart from taking part in Channel 4's Operatunities, has never really made the big time, which is so often the case.

Over the years, I've gently suggested to a sequence of CEOs of OAE that they might consider inviting Colin Davis to come and conduct. They all laughed a lot and thought I was joking.

Played it yesterday, along with Karajan VPO for comparison. Enjoyed the leaner, less well-upholstered Mozart!
C minor will no doubt be looked into, in due course
