Hmm. Very little "risk" here. It's so obviously prescripted.

not very illuminating so far

Big arrangements of Mozart's music can but very musical, it's true, but if picking a recording for Building a Library, I would prefer something closer to what the composer might have expected to get out of the performers of his time. The survey seems to be going very well, so far.

A marvellous BAL: I felt the dialogue worked, the discussion of staccatos versus wedges was important and the eventual outcome, a virtual tie between Colin Davis ( Herr Allegretto) and Trevor Pinnock was right. I'm sure that Jeremy Summerly is right to listen "blind" to the issues. I loved his "in a nutshell" characterisation CD being "in the orchestra" and Pinnock "in the score". Thank you.Last edited by edashtav; 22-03-14, 10:35.

Blimey! I must be totally out of step.
What a flustered, gibbering, frantic bit of chaos that was! Ragging and joking, and Summerley rambles at times.
I want my CD BAL review considered and focused and analytic. That was none of them.
Big mistake IMO to have it live.
Pinnock yes - liked the destination, but the journey was bumpy.
