thanks, fernie. i will think about it, the question entering on whether i need another brahms cycle!

There is a couple of Swiss sites which claim to have or have had it at very reasonable prices. However, the more promising one announces that it was taken over by Harmonia Mundi a short while ago and that orders are no longer accepted.

That is really frustrating! (esp the mid-December bit).

        Thanks for the info, Bryn.

Buyer beware. If I'm looking at the right thing, these aren't authorised releases from Sony - they come from "Soul Light Records" and I'm guessing it's a needle-drop job! (Couldn't manage to play excerpts as I'm at work)

this download is apparently the same set as the Icon CD box, but a few bob cheaper, and presumably only in MP3 quality.

A quick reminder about the Medici.tv.com offer which ends tonight. I mentioned this in another thread. Since then I decided that it was quite a good deal and subscribed with a gift card. The offer is for a maximum of 40% discount, and for a one-year subscription works out at under £8 per month. The normal subscription is substantially more.

.... much to my surprise, a Puccini box ordered in July 2014 did arrive today - priced then at some £14 incl p&p, I was sure it was a mistake : I regularly received amazon e-mails telling me they were trying to 'source' this set - and lo! they have done so. I certainly wdn't be paying the prices currently asked...

Wow! I wonder if I can also expect to receive this sometime this year. I have had the messages periodically over the last year - and even one quite recently. I steadfastly withheld from initiating a cancellation from my side, which repeatedly seemed to be hinted at.

I wonder if we were the only two left with the outstanding orders. Glad you got yours, anyway.

I did have one other amazon delivery today, but it was definitely not of CDs.

Interesting. I also ordered this in July 2014 (for £12.33) and recently received an email giving a revised delivery date of 2nd - 7th January 2016. Currently it says "Expected by 7 Jan".

My doorbell rang a few minutes ago, and a parcel was delivered. I now have to hand a box set of the Greatest Puccini Recordings Ever Made - Decca.

It is indeed the 7th January, though I had thought the package might come by the end of the week - if at all - that is!

I'd need to refer back to find what price I agreed to pay, but it surely must have been a bargain.

Now I need to find time to play the CDs.

An added incentive might be that the disc version is currently out of stock at some suppliers - http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/r/BIS/BISSACD1729 The SACD which costs more does have surround sount though. Some sellers at Amazon claim to have it, but at a high price - £25 or more.

PS: I don't use that site much. I found it using a search and the price came up in dollars - just over $6 for the 24 bit version. Does the site work in dollars, or is there a UK site? Also, does the site manage to do the transaction in pounds sterling - or are there hidden conversion charges by one's credit card company? The Flac 16 bit versions, or the MP3 versions are presumably even cheaper - around $4 equivalent.

From Carl Reinecke's Undine Sonata, composed in 1882, to Poulenc's 1957 Flute Sonata this disc brings together five central works in the repertoire for flute and piano, covering

I think you can use paypal, although on the $6 I think the proprietor has said the charges are quite high, and if the customer doesn't mind, he'd rather it was paid by card. I think the prices there are very fair - priced by the minute, so any margin on currency (not by eclassical but one's payment method) wouldn't be too much to bear.
