I hesitate to post this given the Sainsbury Mozart/Davis box debacle.

However, at the price (£29 for 100 cds) this looks irrestible (at least to me) given the huge range of music and the many many names to conjour with (sometimes duplicated in EMI ICON boxes and no doubt elsewhere but life is too short to make a performance by performance check in my collection). I have no info on transfers.

The set is also available from the same supplier (again fulfilled by Amazon) at Am.de and Am.fr for €29 but given the delivery charge that's only a few pennies cheaper than Am.uk. It is not clear whether the continental sites offer international delivery so I tried the Am.de site and it accepted UK delivery.

On 23 July I sent this e-message to Sainsbury's re the BBCSO/Davis Mozart operas order:

"I've been told by several friends who placed the same order that they have received Bellini 'I Puritani' CDs in error.

Please could you check carefully that you are sending me what I have ordered as per order below.

I received the 50 CD EMI box of opera highlights (French box- Les Chefs d'Oeuvre de l'Opéra) from FNAC a few days ago. http://musique.fnac.com/a2032902/Les...Opera-CD-album The packaging is somewhat basic, and, somewhat to my surprise, all the documentation seems to be in French. [I know it comes from France, but I thought it might actually be all in English, with only the catalogue descriptions in French] Nevertheless, seems a very good deal, and delivered very speedily.

The 2nd disc is highlights from I Puritani. Perhaps I shall listen to that before I finally decide what to do with my unwanted/unrequested copies of that opera from Sainsburys.
