Some of the reviews seem positive - and it seems that the downloads are only £3.99. The CDs/SACDs are normally around £30. I'm not sure that I'll bother either, but anyone who does not already have a set of these might find them of interest. Could also be a toe in the water for anyone who hasn't tried downloads yet.

Fair points. I'm not exactly short of classic recordings of these works, both on modern and historical instruments. There again, the Gruniaux/Haskil can be had (3 CD boxed set) for £3.29 + p&p on amazon.co,uk.

I found a whole bunch of things at what might be reasonable prices - and in CD or SACD formats. Are things particularly cheap right now as we approach the annual "selling fest", or has there been a spate of box sets recently which are keenly priced?

The free Bach set of mp3 downloads this week from Classic World Select contains at least three tracks (out of many) which are worth the price of the download!!

I did a quick sample, and violin sonatas and the flute sonatas - including the solo one - all seem to be quite decently recorded.

I did decide to go for this, alerted by the above. I listen to these works a lot and already have quite a few CDs. However, my complete sets are all of older recordings, my staple being Grumiaux/Haskil (late 50s mono), as mentioned, also Isaac Stern/Eugene Istomin and the classic Fritz Kreisler/Franz Rupp from 1935-36. I took this as a good opportunity to have a set in a more modern recording (especially at a can't go wrong price), slightly swayed by one generally enthusiastic review which I came across. I agree with the comments and have greatly enjoyed the performances.

Grace D was namechecked on this forum recently, IIRC. In October I sang in a Mozart concert - Mass in C minor/ Ave Verum Corpus and Solemn Vespers, where she (and Julia Doyle in the Mass) gave a beautiful, sparkling and assured performance. At the top of her game, in the first choral and orchestral concert in the locality since the start of the pandemic. One to remember……
