I have a lot of those Bach Guild recordings already - many of them originally from Vanguard. The mp3s aren't great, but the music often is, and some of the performances are well worth having. Some of those were issued on LP a long while ago, and sounded decent at the time. I'll review the latest offerings to see if there's anything I missed from before.
        .
I am disappointed to report that these downloads appear to be mp3, but they enable one to decide if the performances merit purchasing on CD or flac.

I thiink many of the performances are acceptable - some really good. I'm not sure if they are actually easy to obtain on CD or FLAC at the present time. As I mentioned earlier, some were on LP, and the sound quality was almost certainly better than the mp3s, but good transfers from the original tapes might be hard to find. I ended up buying most that were available last year, and spent perhaps £40. I don't regret that, as I enjoyed what I have listened to. Others may be more cautious. Also I think the prices this year are a bit higher. The Haydn sets with symphonies are worth having, IMO, but perhaps I'm influenced because I had some on LP and these may be the only way to get those performances now.

I just went back and sampled some quickly. The Christmas boxes are worth having too - some unusual carols and some of the performances are really good. If sound quality is your thing, this won't quite float your boat, but sound quality isn't everything, and they can be used as background music anyway during Christmas.

                Nice.

Plenty of Warner boxes in time limited deals on Amazon.

Me too. They're normally pretty good at refunding or exchanging

                      Apologies for the bad steer!

No problems - it could have been good and may still be if they sort the tracks!

If someone could let everyone know when the Miaskovsky download fault is corrected, that would be great as I'm really tempted to buy it! Many thanks in advance...

I received a reply to say it will be fixed but they don’t know when and have offered an alternative of refund or credit against another purchase. I assume this means if I do nothing the amended version will eventually be in ‘my music’ folder.

I had the same and am minded to wait as it's a stupendous bargain

BTW I've been listening to the Naxos version of the 25th and the first movement is extremely beautiful. Bits of it sound like Bax or Rubbra at their most lyrical and there's a "big tune" that sounds a bit like the one from Saint-Saens 3. (It's also on YouTube with Svetlanov if you're interested.)

Ok, maybe I should just go ahead and order it and hope they correct it. Thanks for the info all!
