I have a lot of those Bach Guild recordings already - many of them originally from Vanguard. The mp3s aren't great, but the music often is, and some of the performances are well worth having. Some of those were issued on LP a long while ago, and sounded decent at the time. I'll review the latest offerings to see if there's anything I missed from before.

I just went back and sampled some quickly. The Christmas boxes are worth having too - some unusual carols and some of the performances are really good. If sound quality is your thing, this won't quite float your boat, but sound quality isn't everything, and they can be used as background music anyway during Christmas.Last edited by Dave2002; 02-11-19, 04:21.

BTW I've been listening to the Naxos version of the 25th and the first movement is extremely beautiful. Bits of it sound like Bax or Rubbra at their most lyrical and there's a "big tune" that sounds a bit like the one from Saint-Saens 3. (It's also on YouTube with Svetlanov if you're interested.)
