Excellent steer Parry1912! My pickings are Byrd keyboard fantasies, Obrecht Missa Caput, Schubert Lieder x2 all at 3.99, and ahem, Stanford's Requiem (2 CDs) for 4.99 which I trust you will forgive.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

... which does not include texts. Am really impressed with the LPO for releasing a box comprising mostly non-standard repertoire. But aside from the Brahms Requiem, the vocal works are not exactly standard repertoire

          Anyone bought a mystery box?

I'm quite tempted, choosing is such hard work!

If you search "London Philharmonic Label" and then choose that label on the search result, it seems, from a few samples, that the recordings come up, but not for download oe purchase in any form there. Don't know the reason why, they may well come back online as available as before. But the PDF booklet (presume the same as one would get with the physical disc) is still shown as available for the Jurowski Box.

No, I'm not tempted by the mystery box.... I have more than enough CDs I intentionally purchased, which I need to listen to (including the Svetlanov Melodiya 2nd Big Box which I got for a knock-down price (which also - didn't come throught the Royal Mail import system - I remain unclear whether it was located in the UK).

The mystery boxes look like the Russian Roulette of record buying!

I really cannot see why anyone would want to take up the offer. Who in their right mind would part with cash for CDs not knowing exactly what they contain? Just a way of Chandos(?) off-loading a sufeit of CDs that didn't sell, and hoping to make a bit on the side.
                'Mystery box' my ........ !

Too expensive! If 50% of the box is unsuited (duplication, disliked music) the per-disc cost is £5 which isn't really cheap enough...

Looks like somebody did as Mystery Box #2 is no longer listed. I'm guessing it was Concertos.

No, that's the Chandos 40 box; great Prokofiev & Rachmaninov, shame about the Shostakovich & Tchaikovsky...

Yes, a couple of double or triple ups, but enough good things to make it good value, but not RR, I knew what the parameters were!

Presto Classical have genuine Sony bargains, e.g. I went for Bernstein Greatest Recordings 16 CDs for £17.

                            Thanks.
I went for the Kathryn Stott and the art of Murray Perahia boxes

Thanks for the tip off. I'll look at this again tomorrow. I've probably got most of the Bernstein CDs already, but the box might still be worth it if not everything is a duplicate of one I've got already. The Sony bargains are at 70% off, but some of the other summer clearance discounts could still be good - maybe 60%. Worth a browse through - I had a glance through the Supraphon section.

There are also some SACDs - of violin concertos - by Arabella Steinbacher which I might take a punt on.

I was beginning to wonder if this thread had completely dried up - hasn't had much impact on my bank account recently!

It was the Eloquence sets that cost me, many thanks
