popped into FOPP in Bristol today..they had loads of Naxos "American Classics" for £3 each, if anyone is interested in that kind of thing.

Didn't know FOPP still existed, still 've 'em in England then!

My set arrived today. The recordings date from between 1968 and 1980 and at all "AAD" transfers. I have not yet listened to any, but might try spinning the wheel later.

You may get it sooner than you expect, Dave. I got a shipping confirmation on the 10th of this month. The estimated delivery date given on that confirmation notice was Thursday June 21st.

These are enjoyable, mostly good performances in modern recordings. You really can't go wrong at this price.

As did I so that was MB's 2 copies gone. I have absolutely no need for this box (which will be my 9th complete Nielsen symphony cycle) but the thought of 10 CDs at 94.7p each was too much of a bargain to resist - and the thumbs-up from Jack Lawson (a well-known Nielsen addict) set the seal on it. It can sit alongside the other new boxes (Messiaen from DG, Boulez in Ravel/Debussy, the complete Rued Langgaard symphonies, the Kondrashin Shostakovich cycle on Aulos ....) as testimony to my addiction (what is it about boxed sets?).

Is your hoard, sorry, collection kept in Scotland or in your French abode, HighlandDougie?

Or do you have some devilishly clever system for dividing it between the two?

Divided in a rather random fashion between the 2 which doesn't stop duplications. I have 6 of the 10 discs in the Messiaen box already and, gulp, all of the Boulez Debussy/Ravel but they're in Scotland. No doubt someone will tell me that I should rip them all to hard disk than copy the disk but somehow it's not the same. But definitely no more Nielsen symphonies. Well, at least until the next set. And banning access to Amazon (.com, .co.uk, .fr and .de would help, never mind Hafod's discovery of .es) would help. Like drinking wine, I keep telling myself that I should give it up but I just can't seem to do it.
