Kathryn Stott! I didn't notice that one. And I had no idea she'd recorded the Bridge Sonata. I've added that.

Those Sony boxes are bargains! I paid twice as much for "Perahia plays Schumann" a month ago; not complaining too much, I really enjoyed it! I notice not all boxes are knocked down, Bruno Walter plays Brahms & Beethoven are still full price... although still bargains...

Didn't we have that one a while back? Trouble with that one is that it's quite big, not absolute peanuts, and the contents would need to be checked. I agree it looks a possible, though.

Spotted via the link to the Bernstein Sony box - Harnoncourt for £55 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikolaus-Ha...MMK2X5RCMJWHZH

I'm just not sure I want any more big boxes right now.

Would the Bernstein remastering make a significant difference? It's possible, but if not I may have many of the recordings already, so wouldn't be much of a benefit.

I have the set, for which I paid around the same price as an HMV Bond Street sale item a couple or so years ago. Well worth the money if it does not provide too many duplications for you. It didn't for me. Bear in mind that 4 of the CDs are of previously unreleased recordings.

The first amazon reviewer of the Bernstein big box lists problems, though says that despite that it's still worth 5 stars. One concern relevant to any possible purchase I might make is that according to that reviewer the NYP anniversary box which is also currently available and another "possible" has substantial overlap - or "recycling" as the reviewer calls it.

It is a big box - with 100 CDs - more than I thought at first. The Amazon site doesn't list all the items as "Remastered" - but the reviewer mentions that all of the CDs will have been remastered in the last eight years - some items might be "Newly Remastered".

I didn't know that Bernstein wrote a version of Peter Pan - though that's perhaps not enough to sway a decision.

Did you consider the Harnoncourt box at all?
