Re Stokowski. The 5 CD Naxos collection of his orchestral transcriptions with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under José Serebrier is still around and on offer, eg at Presto for £14. I got it even cheaper a few years ago. Somewhat of a labour of love for Serebrier. Stokowski was his mentor. Beatifully done and well worth investigating even if these transcriptions might not be exactly your cup of tea.

Well, I bit on the conductors. I was pleasantly surprised that the duplication was only around 20% or so :-)

Well done! I have several criteria for duplicates. 1. Is it the same piece?. 2. Is it the same conductor?. 3. Is it the same recording?

There are some pieces where I like to have different versions, so don't mind different conductors or orchestras. On the other hand, there are some works where I really don't need any more. Unfortunately, in collections the people doing the selections often choose the same pieces, with only a limited range of conductors or soloists. I really don't want JEG doing Beethoven 4 and 5th symphonies again, for example - though not sure if that's relevant to the current conductors box. For some composers I possibly don't want the "popular" works yet again - by any conductor.

My 20% duplication means identical performance. The repertoire duplication is close to 100% (most of the works being "standard repertoire" or thereabouts)

I've been trying to focus more on new discoveries rather than new interpretations lately but this was too good to miss!

Too many direct duplications for me.

Glad I'm not the only one who gets sad when he can't buy something because he has it already....

Got the Badura Skoda box and it seems to have gone down - mine worked out at 23.58 in euros.

Another box from Germany is Stephen Kovacevich - https://www.amazon.de/Complete-Phili...hen+kovacevich 25 CDs. 36.99 Euros - plus postage.

An additional question - does Prime membership have any impact on "imports" from Germany (even if they actually come from Dunfermline, or somewhere else not so far away)?

I think it does Dave - I ordered the Conductors last night from "Germany" - its getting delivered today. I don't think it would get here that quick otherwise, they will be prioritising Prime orders over xmas I would have thought

On amazon.co.uk it has shot up to nearly double what I paid (£22.03 including 'free' p&p).

An out and out bargain, though I already have the CDs.
