It also looks like amazon.co.uk have rather more than just the one box at that price.

I got an email from Warner re new issues. Jordi Savall - España Eterna - Five Centuries of Music from Spain caught my eye and I've just ordered it from MDT, which seems to be marginally the cheapest offer. 11 classic CDs for about £18 must count as a bargain.

I almost preferred the original "headline" - reminded me of novocaine.

Mine has already been dispatched by Amazon. Due for delivery to a nearby pick-up point on Sunday. I might have to wait there until Monday though.

LOL. I'd be tempted but I think I've got the discs that I REALLY want already (Lubeck Bruckner 8, 9), Berlin 4, 8...

I've not done a close A-B test but from the release year, the identical performers credited, and movement timings within 1 second of each other, I suspect that the 'Rhenish' in both the 33 disc box and the 29 disc (28 CDs + 1 DVD) boxes may be the same recording. Otherwise, I don't think there is further duplication.

I seem to recall Vinteuil flagging up this 5CD set of Liszt symphonic works on period instruments some time ago..I have just found the river people selling it for under £12:

Go for it. I see from Amazon France that the set cost me £30 in 2013 so a snip at the Amazon UK price. Excellent recordings and performances which make the best of a musically somewhat uneven cycle.

... lucky people! I think it was 40 euros when I got the set in 2013.

You will, of course, wish to supplement this with -

Sad - I seem to have missed it. I went to Amazon, and there is was for under £12. Liszt Symphonic Poems. I am currently on Prime - so - put in basket, then try to checkout. Immediately around £38! Double checked - must have missed by a few seconds. Shame!

How bizarre, Dave...I just double-checked my order that I placed about an hour ago and I see that I have got the set for under £12. How does this sudden price change happen, I wonder? Was it a mistake that someone at Amazon noticed and put right?

Vints, thanks so much for highlighting the Hungarian Rhapsodies disc, I didn't know it existed.

There is also this by the same forces: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Martin-Hase...aust+Haselbock
Which is a fantastic performance which I will be reviewing for the Liszt Society in due course. I await volume 9...

By the way, the Liszt orchestrations CD by the same forces: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Arrangement...iszt+Haselbock is slightly disappointing as I feel the works work better in their original versions...
                                Best regards,
                                Jonathan
