Shostakovich? If you have a Qobuz subscription the marginal cost is zero for streaming, and the quality should be similar. I listened to number 9 a week ago. It sounded no worse nor any better than an average mp3. Spotify also has the set.
I got that Bach Edition on usb. A novelty at the time now an irrelevant idea. I've put it on 64 gb stick with loads of othe stuff, permanently available plugged into my player.
The Bach box is still in the range £140-£190 from most supppliers - a lot cheaper than earlier versions though perhaps less luxurious - see Bryn’s Update.

I think the Immerseel Beethoven set is not going to materialise ... Shame. The emails in Italian have started to arrive.

I'll probably buy it anyway eventually from somewhere, before CDs become obsolete.

The decline in CD sales has almost stopped.
Vinyl sales are on the rise.
Paper books still exist, and sales are solid.

You’re safe for a good while yet.

Then I suppose it is coming from Germany - probably better chance than if it was an Amazon.it or Amazon.de which come from Scotland!

Not always. My latest amazon.it order came from Piacenza, a town I am rather fond of, having heard the Quartetto Italiano play Beethoven quartets in the town hall there.

Most 'slow' movements are usually played far too slowly for my liking.

Although the set is probably not going to materialise at the vulture price (ditto the Warner Christa Ludwig box for which my order was cancelled by AmIt), it is due for release in the UK on 16 March for just shy of £30.

Yes, I noticed my Christa Ludwig box had been canceled, too.

Amazon is not what it was. I can remember when all 'misprices' were honoured.

I'd be interested to know exactly how such decisions are arrived at. Given that thousands of orders are being taken at any moment, I would imagine that there cannot be too much human intervention in the process. Maybe the system gives an alert if it spots a sudden surge of orders for a particular item, which might be an indicator of a misprice.
