Good news - but at £3.44 per disc, it's less of a bargain than Harnoncourt/Leonhardt (half the price) or Leusink (nearly a third) for impecunious Bach Cantata hunters

A point I've forgotten to make - does anyone know of a complete HIPP CD/download recommendable edition of these wonderful and neglected works?

Yet I see that Suzuki has already made quite a few discs of the secular cantatas on BIS - are they not to be included in the complete set?

Not according to the link gurne helpfully provided. Perhaps they're planning to box these separately once they've all been done? (That would nicely solve my problem! )

The Schreier set on Berlin Classics (also to be found licenced to Brilliant Classics) is the only separate set of the secular cantatas I know of.

I have a nice 2 CD set of some of the Secular Cantatas BWV 201,206,207 recorded by Reinhard Goebel and MAK for Archiv - long-deleted, I think.

Don't forget Rilling - a joy - the complete sacred and secular Cantatas [Edition Bachakademie] at £61.79! (it is £75 on Amazon).

Johann Sebastian Bach - Sacred Cantatas, (Harnoncourt, Leonhardt) [60 CD Set] - a bit cheaper at Base.com (£80.29) than AmIt (£81.80) having come down in price since #6035.

I got the very good 8 CD Schreier secular box as an adjunct to Leusink ..... before I got the complete teldec which of course has secular and sacred.

Interestingly, this Schreier recording is thus on both sets.

An Amazon Marketplace seller currently has the mono set of Kempff Beethoven sonatas for under £15 (exc. delivery).

Yes - for anyone wanting modern instruments in this repertoire, that is a bargain. But Rilling doesn't rock my boat at all, I regret.

Apologies, and many thanks for the information (particularly the list of works and performers, which isn't clear from the Amazon site) - yes, I'm very tempted; but a tad above my immediate budget; I'll have to save up a couple or three months - by which time, with any luck, they'll be available at an even lower price!

Confession time - I had forgotten how many secular Cantatas there are
