Spotted today Southampton HMV store, a couple of "Westminster Legacy," 40-CD boxes reduced from £69.99 to £19.99!

No where near the same bargain but I see that the Mercury Living Presence Vols 1 and 2 are both 62.9 € (approx £50) on Amazon Italy.

Arguably the Mercury vol 1 is a better collection, with better recordings, though. Some of the Living Stereo ones do show their age.

Are these offers all genuine? Perhaps we're all buying fakes!

We have been rumbled! Most of these deals gone. I suspect dodgy algorithms strike again; wait for the orders to fall off your list (I hope they don't but they have before). £15 for the SACD set of Beethoven String Quartets by the Tokyo Quartet on HM did arrive - mind you, sold by Amazon itself.

I don't want to rain prematurely on the parade but on another board there are patchy reports of cancellations by sellers on the grounds that the item is 'out of stock' - a marketplace seller on AmIt in particular.

Update: Dodax-on-line on AmUK has just cancelled my order - out of stock! The lies these people tell. Thank goodness for feedback.

my parade is putting its umbrella up........the Zinman ordered with dodax cancelled due to being " Out of stock".

When I placed my order, the number of items remaining in stock was clearly shown on the basket entry. As soon as the last stock item is bought the system will not accept an order. To then claim that the item is 'out of stock' is rubbish unless of course they thought they had copies but do not (or can't find them). The more usual real reason is that the price was wrong so why not simply say so? Interestingly, a number of sellers are involved (across a number of Amazon sites), although I saw elsewhere a report that some of these sellers are in fact the same organisation operating under different names. Whether this is true or not I have no idea.

looked an awful lot like it to me.

actually, rather more transparency about where sellers are based, who they are and so on might be useful. I recently ordered an item advertised as being despatched from Germany, which in fact came from Switzerland. No harm done, but I imagine that there might have been if the item had been expensive enough.
particularly shoddy is the trick of calling a company something or other - UK
when in fact it is based elsewhere. Pretty sure I have seen US based companies do this.
