I see that Selections also have some other good bargains at the moment:

Do we have a whisky section? This does seem a good price, though some of Amazon's prices on other whiskies don't seem so good. The Laphroaig Three Woods was substantially cheaper in our Waitrose a few weeks ago.
I do wonder about the price of Lagavulin at Amazon, though - is it competitive? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lagavulin-16...s=lagavulin+16
I quite liked the glass of this I had a few weeks ago - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Balvenie-Yea.../dp/B002GOJ19Y - again not sure if the price is good.
OTOH you can pay a lot more - http://www.shop4whisky.com/index.php...sort=3a&page=1 - seriously! Because of the very high prices of some whiskies I have no idea whether many of them would have a flavour of "nectar of the gods" or of "burnt tyres and petrol", or of TCP, as some reviewers have suggested of some of them - such as Lagavulin.
What music would you select to go with your whisky of choice?

The Lagavulin is 9 shillings cheaper on Amazon than here (but you don't get a mug (sic) thrown in!
Music to go with whisky? Maybe Mendelsshonn? Perhaps his Italian symphony?

Amazon US Mozart EMI 50 box <30 USD
It can be obtained for a bit more than £30 in the UK - though watch for European sellers to be sure that there is no extra charge. Some of the suppliers are based in the US.
In the US the Beethoven box also seems to be available - http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=all

I paid around £45 and £30 for my first EMI 50 Beethoven and Mozart boxes respectively, shortly after they were released, then could not resist a further box of each when they turned up in an HMV sale at a fiver each. One of these days I migha get round to putting the spares on ebay or the Amazon marketplace.

I had a look at the contents of the EMI Mozart and Beethoven boxes. I saw them when they first came out, and some later cheaper offerings - though not as low as £5, but I still managed to resist them. It turns out that I have most of the CDs in both boxes anyway, though there are some curiosities, such as Beethoven flute sonatas, and mandolin pieces which I don't have, but it's hardly worth buying the boxes just for those. In any case, they (or at least the pieces - if not the same recordings/performances) might also be in the Brilliant Beethoven box - I'd need to check.

MDT are doing offers on quite a few CPE Bach CDs - mostly BIS, including keyboard works and concertos performed by Miklos Spanyi.
Examples - http://www.mdt.co.uk/series/cpe-bach...rd-spanyi.html
Still quite expensive if you want a lot, but significantly cheaper if you see something you really fancy - or maybe you are just rich enough to be able to afford them all!
