This has to be a steal (well, I thought so and bought it) - a 33cd box from Decca of Sviatoslav Richter solo recordings for £44.74 at AmazonUk. The ASIN is B00GYHSYW4.

While I can't speak for the Beethoven, I see that Kempe's Brahms is, "licensed from Fonoteam", who supplied what I assume are the same transfers for;
The sound quality is really quite poor - they have made masters from some not very good LP pressings (swish anyone?) with pretty sub-fusc results. Although I don't imagine that anyone will buy the box either for an assumption about the sound quality being good or indeed for the Brahms (which, in proper transfers, is very good indeed), I thought that a small health warning might not be amiss.

I suppose it would be mainly the Beethoven which would attract. I have one disc in the series (1 and 3) on the obscure Italian Arkadia label. I like the interpretations and the mono sound is decent with some background hiss. Found a review here

If your internet browser supports it (I suppose, I'm no expert) then clicking on the image of the back of the box (2nd down of the small images on the left of the main image on the Amazon page) will enable an enlarged image, which you can peer at - I can make it out (if my eyesight were worse than it is now, I might need a magnifying glass.... )

But as set, if Strauss lieder are you thing and you haven't got it: go for it.
One cycle especially recommended: Krämerspiegel, a rather sarcastic view on music publishers, also containing the original Mondscheinmusik from Capriccio.

This set of Mozart keyboard music is worth having - http://www.selections.com/mozart-c-t...rks-14cds.html at under £16 for 14 CDs - played by Bart van Oort on fortepianos - assuming you haven't already got them in another guise.
I'm not sure if all the CDs are included in the much larger Brilliant Mozart box.
Sorry - I should have mentioned this last weekend when the price was £11.99 - but it could still be good value. However, at its current price it's possible that an Amazon market place seller would have a cheaper deal if the postage is also included - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mozart-Compl...ozart+van+oort
Curiously Selections are also offering the box via Amazon, but the postage is I think lower than if ordered via their own site.
This weekend there is Schubert for under £12 - http://www.selections.com/schubert-c...tas-14cds.html
It's a good set - certainly worth the money at that price. If last weekend is a model prices will go up somewhat in a few days.
The postage might also be lower if ordered via Amazon, as Selections is currently shown as a market place seller with this item.Last edited by Dave2002; 01-02-14, 04:34.
