Gardiner: Bach Cantatas (56 cds) on SDG for £115.86 (delivered) from 'hive'.

This is a new site (at least to me) I found a week ago. Unfortunately, while checking out the site over that time prices have increased by at least 15% on a number of previously good bargains. The JEG is the exception being £112 when I first found it. The message is therefore that this price may well not last. It is not worth posting anything else from this site as the prices, although in many instances very competitive, are not bargains in the way that the word is used on this thread.

I had been given a free £1 download credit by Amazon, with nothing particular to use it for. So I now have the Chopin for £0.19 - Many thanks!

€9.99 in the Irish iTunes Store, unfortunately, but it's only €2.59 on Qobuz for CD-quality download, or €3.48 for the 24/96 "Studio Masters" version. Remarkable prices. I'm off now to download the SM version before the price returns to normal.

Note: This is a pre-order. The downloads will be available on 21st October.

Has anyone else had the e-mail claiming that the Franz Liszt box set barcode has been mixed up with a Joe Cocker live DVD (God forbid!) My order has been cancelled. Did anyone actually receive the discs??

                [QUOTE=Parry1912;340688]Liszt - Master and Magician (26CDs) on Amazon for £11.96 including postage[/

                Good afternoon,

Please accept my apologies, Unfortunately we have discovered an issue with your order. Although you have received a despatch email we have stopped this item being sent due to a barcode error.

It appears there is a barcode error on Amazon regarding The item you ordered “Franz Liszt” and a DVD “Joe Cocker Live”

Somehow Franz Liszt is listed with the barcode for the Joe Cocker Live, so although you have ordered Franz Liszt from Amazon it has registered on our systems as the Joe Cocker Live DVD

I am unfortunately unable to obtain a copy of Franz Liszt so your order has been cancelled and your account has been refunded.

I have passed this information onto our technical department to correct this error,

I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused,

                Kind regards

Same here. It does look like a genuine mistake, but I wonder what take friend Caliban might have on the legal status. Surely the notice of dispatch completes the contract? Presumably credit cards have not been debited, so no refunds are in order. Who's to blame for the barcode mess-up, amazon.co.uk or YouWantIt-WeAin'tActuallyGotIt?

Certainly worth starting the ball rolling with Amazon by making a vociferous complaint. There is a contract when your acceptance corresponds with the seller's offer: so when you conclude your 'purchase' part of the transaction - item into basket, checkout, confirm order - that's the contract concluded right there imo.

Aux barricades, you Lisztians - time for a bit of a Hunnenschlacht
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Not received the email yet re the Liszt.

Incidentally, the despatch email say that my order is " On the way, and cannot be changed".

Which presumably means " cannot be changed by the customer"?!?!

Remind me again what Hunnenschlacht actually entails?

                          What a bummer!

I don't buy this explanation. I have this box and the barcode on it when put into the Amazon search box brings up the Liszt box, not Joe Cocker Live! The Liszt set is currently no 6 in the Amazon.uk classical bestseller list (and now falling) so clearly many have been piling in and presumably the computer has picked this up and flagged it to management who have come up with the above garbage to welch on the deal.

To say that they have been unable to obtain a copy of the Liszt is questionable as most of the other Amazon sites have it in stock. Moreover, why is it still listed at the time of posting at £10.70 and in stock? Perhaps there is one person in the technical department and they have left for the weekend.

PS I am aware that this involves a marketplace seller but there is no mention of this in the above. So, one has to take the explanation at its face value.

As a consolation prize, Amazon.de has a 9cd box of Mozart violin and wind concertos from Decca for €8.23 (£10.26 delivered). Which barcode will they claim this is confused with - Cliff Richard 'Summer Holiday'?

I also thought they had to honour quoted prices. A couple of years ago, one of our best price-error triumphs at Amazon was the 21 CD Real Chopin box. It was clearly a cock-up but they honoured it and some of us on here got it for £9.97 (I kept the receipt in the box as a trophy) - now selling at £130.46.
