I suppose EMI have those stashed away somewhere in a locked cupboard in a disused basement. Perhaps some day an archeologist might chance upon them and put them before the public again.
I assume Bryn is trying to draw attention to some of the less well done recordings of the latter pianist.

This Schubert piano set may be good - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Schubert-Pia...3221553&sr=8-2 Zacharias
I suspect that the price of the Michel Dalberto set is fluctuating a bit - slightly upwards, but still cheap from the marketplace seller at around £16 plus postage.
There are others - possibly tempting - which cost more - Kempff, Schiff etc., though they might still be bargains for the quality of the playing. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...onatas+box+set
I also spotted this DG set of Horowitz - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Horowitz-Com...3221634&sr=8-3 - similar conditions re performance quality apply.Last edited by Dave2002; 14-03-13, 08:34.

Having reminded myself of the existence of Christian Zacharias, I wonder if his Mozart Piano concerto set is any good. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mozart-Compl...3254460&sr=1-1
This one is on EMI, but he's also been working through the concertos again and making SACDs with an orchestra from Lausanne. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Concertos-C-...3255161&sr=1-2
He has also recorded the sonatas for EMI (currently available on EMI France). http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mozart-Piano...3255222&sr=1-3
I'm slightly tempted by the concerto set, though I've already got sets by Barenboim, Uchida and Perahia which I don't play too frequently, and many individual discs, such as Stephen Bishop K with Davis), Richard Goode, Horowitz, Brendel etc. which probably get played more often. I'm still hoping that one day Ingrid Haebler's recordings will come round again. After the recent BAL I perhaps should also investigate Clara Haskil further.

One last visit to HMV Oxford Street, where all their blue cross items at bargain price are now buy one, get one free. The classical department is now almost empty, but I did secure the Clara Haskil Edition of 17 CDs, The Halle / Elder Bax Spring Fire etc, Glenn Gould playing Renaissance music, the recent Anima Eterna Debussy disc, Julia Fischer's Chausson Poeme, Menotti's Violin Concerto, James Gilchrist in Britten, Kremer and Argerich in Berlin, and a disc of Leo Weiner. Total £109, about half the marked price.
I asked if they had any news of HMV's future, but they didn't know anything, a sad spectacle of empty shelves.

Always on the lookout for recordings that offer greater clarity of sound, new insights, which are often (but not always) HIP readings, I've been trying out some different recordings of Mozart's Piano Concertos, including Immerseel's recordings with Anima Eterna.
Investigating the price, it turns out there's a forthcoming box set of symphonies, concertos and sonatas (with Midori Seiler) for £24.90.
Haven't found a complete listing yet.
Has anyone collected these individually? Bryn?It loved to happen. -- Marcus Aurelius
