If you keep your eyes open you can get the Aeolian's CD box set for not much more - should be not too much more than £30. Currently Amazon pricing is over £40, but keep watching.

Christa Ludwig sings Mahler for £2 with Boult/Klemperer/Vandernoot

Does anyone know if Ludwig is on top form in these versions?

Aye, I did spot that, Amateur51. However, the one I'm most interested in 'Ich bin der Welt abhanden gerkommen' doesn't get to the singing. I've hunted on YouTube for it, but to no avail. Still, £2 + p&p isn't that big of a risk.

My wife is an accomponist - mostly choral/vocal. She helped Lynn Harrell prepare for a London performacne of Tout un monde lointain (cello concerto) as he hadn't played it for some years. Lynn was kind enough to introduce us to Dutilleux after the concert.

Mrs B really enjoyed working with Lynn although it wasn't the easiest piece..... He went back to the US not long after and sadly cut back significantly on his playing.

                      I don't think so. He's nearly 70 - born 1944.

Look under events here - http://www.lynnharrell.com/ Seems to be a few concerts a month, but still gets around more than I do - Singapore, Paris, LA etc. Nearly 70 - I make it 68!

I remember him when he was a young man - I suddenly feel very old

Keep on keeping on Mr Harrell

For downloaders, Qobuz is currently running a reduced-price Philips promotion.

A notable bargain is Chopin's complete piano music performed by Nikita Magaloff. The price of the 13-CD set is less than 9 euro (€8.69 to be precise).

And the Beaux Arts Haydn trios for the same price:

My feeling, too, ammy: I thought "He can't be 70 - he's only about 15 years older than me and I'm ... oh, dear!"
