Selling LPs,any tips?

Btw, I have bought many CDs on Amazon from the various Goodwill stores around the country (the shipping charge is usually several times the selling price of the CD). Usually the discs are playable but the jewel case arrives in tatters.

Many thanks to the contributors, some wise advice and tips.
I'm disposing of them gradually through fellow vinalystas who will give them the retirement home they deserve.
I took the plunge and flogged the turntable gear last week so they have to go now.
If any of you ever need to sell hi fi equipment may I recommend 2nd Hand Hi Fi at Stockton on Tees. I'm not taking advantage and giving them a shameless plug, they are super chaps and they always give a fair price. I've dealt with them far too many times for the bank manager to know about and they've always been the epitome of decency, welcome and
plain nice guys. Worth visiting for a look at their collections of canvas prints of cows on the wall - I kid you not (and no, I've no idea why either).

I have come to this rather late, so apologies if you have already sold them. Most LPs are not worth much, but a small number are worth a great deal, judging by bids on ebay. For example, someone just paid £777 to acquire an original label SAX2460 (Klemperer conducts The Threepenny Opera suite, etc). If you have any "wide band" Decca 2000 series, Columbia blue and silver SAX series, or HMV white and gold ASD three digit numbers, for example, you could be sitting on some valuable items. Some other stereos, and some monos (if no stereo exists) are also valuable.

If you are near Hove, then Julian Pelling in Fine Records, George Street, is very knowledgeable and helpful, though being a dealer he obviously wont pay as much as a private collector. Ben Darnton of Ben's Collectors Records in Tunsgate, Guildford, would also be interested, though he is more keen on rock and pop than classical. If you are anywhere near Tiverton, East Devon, I'd be happy to advise. I would prefer to view the actual records rather than a list. If you want to send a private message, let me know on this thread, because I dont usually check for them.

Finally got round to dealing with these LPs. Around twenty have been selected by a relative, a further 44 are under offer from a local record shop/bar and I’ll realise a decent sum for those.
The remainder have been sent as a list to a shop.
It wasn’t easy and most dealers want to cream off the sought after vinyl (Decca so-called Wide Band, despite the fact they sound the same as narrow-band!).
As I had a fair few new albums, modern repressings on heavier vinyl, these ended up being the best cash crop.
No great sums have been made but at least there has been a satisfactory end.
The market seems saturated despite the claimed popularity of spinning plastic and those dealers that remain are pretty choosy. I had to tell more than one that it was the job lot or none. Very much a buyers market but it can be done via some patience and determination.
I donate goods frequently to Oxfam but this was one pile that wasn’t going to their warehouse!
