Even New York can't sustain a classical record store

Sad news about J&R (see link below).

Of course Academy Records is still going strong in the 2nd hand market.

Dissapointing news...

Am a regular visitor to Academy but didn't know about J&R, mea culpa. The rents in NY have wiped out plenty of bookshops in recent years too.

Am a regular visitor to Academy but didn't know about J&R, mea culpa. The rents in NY have wiped out plenty of bookshops in recent years too.

It wasn't a "loveable" store in the same way as Academy but I always popped in when visiting NY.

I always thought Academy was less than above board with their second hand dealings...
