Barcode Errors

Many of us have had this happen at one time or another. And it's a "first world problem" compared to the issues some folk face...

But it made me wonder about how packing is done. Is the whole thing done by machine? Or are the people involved in the process so badly trained/overworked/bored that they can't pick-up on obvious errors?

Any thoughts?

Well say you're required to process each order in under 2 minutes. You blip on the barcode and its says Mozart 50 CD box and yet you have a Mozart 10 CD box in your hand. You re-check. Same result. You now ought to find the correct item becauase time is running out. You also ought to sort out the barcode discrepancy. But time is running out even faster. So you press 'Send', hoping that the return won't come to you, although you do get 5 minutes to sort those out!

Shame, in the old days you could've written to Jim to fix it for a trip around Amazon. You can't now because he's dead of course.
