Possibly the easiest method to find recordings that haven’t been mastered to *h*t* is this

Mostly the database files have "popular" and rock music, but look closely and there are a few classical and jazz items.
It's a pity the database isn't tagged, or searchable, but it seems like a good idea. I don't know how the ratings were done - did someone measure the dynamic range of each album carefully, or did subjectivity come into it?

To be really useful the database needs to be much more comprehensive - or if it already is more than it seems, more accessible, but it's an interesting idea.

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the Techie area or here - it could go in either, though I thought for starters it might be useful in CD Review.
