    Kristian Bezuidenhout - Mozart K457 CD Review 26th Feb

    I was not familiar with this sonata and while listening with interest was completely lost in the second movement. Today I had a look at the music while replaying his performance and can see why!

    It was Bezuidenhout's insertion of pauses throughout the Adagio - starting in bar 2 where a semi-quaver rest is turned into a pause - which made it impossible for me to follow what was going on. Is this the way to perform Mozart?

              I listened to movements 2 & 3 and I must say I found the interpretation fairly extreme, being unable to see the justifications in the score for much of what was played. The breakneck tempo for the finale seemed incredibly fast for Allegro assai.
