Great to hear the amazing (Professor) David Wilde in top form in a new Liszt recital. I heard him play in the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh to a sadly minuscule audience. A wonderful Waldstein full or warmth and humanity, and as ever he was supporting new works. Ronald Stevenson was there too. Two giants of an almost bygone era. David also composed music, Cellist of Sarajevo, for Vedran Smailović, the eponymous performer.
I owe Prof. Wilde a for my love of piano music. He gave a recital at my school in Cumbria, playing the B minor sonata. I was completely blown away and have never looked back! My old Saga LPs of Wilde playing Liszt have worn out!
