    Amazon Page Presentation

I know there are other members who are far more computer literate than myself and I hope they can help me with this one. For the last few weeks, I have noticed that every time I consult a product on Amazon, the photo of the CD/DVD/Book etc is enlarged to the left of the screen, which renders the product description below illegible, and the enlarged photo is seemingly impossible to remove.

I put up with this for a while, but have this morning asked Amazon how to restore the photo to the usual size. They told me my cookies settings were probably at fault, gave me instructions as to how to delete them on Internet Explorer - I followed their instructions, only to find that ALL my items in my shopping basket had been deleted (carefully researched over a period of time) and the same problem of the enlarged product photo remains!

I wonder if any other members have noticed this feature of late, or is it just my computer which is doing it?

I have noticed this but it only occurs while the mouse pointer is over the cover image on the left which it magnifies. As you move the mouse to the right the normal image reappears. But you might have a different issue to this.

I have the same annoying problem - another thing that annoys me on Amazon is the frequent absence of track listings.

Could the problem be browser-related. It all looks normal to me on IE8.

Agree about the annoyance of lack of track listings, but it seems to me that Amazon, while not consistent, is rather better in this respect than many other suppliers? I tend to go to Amazon first if I'm looking for them.

Thanks for the replies...no, I have tried moving the mouse off the cover image but to no avail...the photo refuses to become smaller and despite several messages to Amazon, nobody seems to know how to help.

Have you tried clicking the "Escape" key once you've moved the cursor, Micky?

I just tried that, ferney, and alas, no joy.

Amazon contacted me to suggest I call their helpline and speak to someone about the problem. After spending over three minutes trying to spell my e-mail address to someone who clearly cannot speak English, I just gave up.

I would definitely try a new browser, Micky - either Firefox or Chrome. Do you have any add-ons/extensions, like AdBlock interefering with the functioning of your browser? When they work, these new huge cover images are actually very useful, allowing you to actually read the detail on the front and, more efficaciously, the back.

I agree, Thoppers, large cover images are very useful when you want them, but I don't want them permanently covering the rest of the written description of the article! This is what happens every time I try to view an article on Amazon. I have only had this problem in the last few weeks and cannot understand it. I'm pretty hopeless with understanding browsers etc and don't know how to use another type.

Just in case anyone wants to know, Amazon have now passed my problem on to their technical team, who promise to come back within three days and hopefully provide a solution.

The good news: this must be saving you a fortune, Micky.

Ha ha, good point, Throppers! But seriously, it is the first time I have had problems with Amazon....I don't mean from this technical problem, but from the backup staff on the phone. I was really surprised to speak to someone who couldn't speak English properly.

                            Hi,

Are you still having this problem? It sounds the same as the one I had using Internet Explorer 10, and was sorted by switching on "Compatibility Mode". If you are using the same browser, then you can switch on compatibility mode by pressing on the icon that looks a bit like a sheet of paper ripped in half horizontally in the address bar at the top left of your screen. The browser will remember this setting on subsequent visits to amazon's website.

Here's a link that gives more detail

                            I hope this helps.

Hello DaDaDaDum (let me guess - theme tune from The Archers: right? ) and welcome. Sounds a reasonable solution which perhaps people with the same problem will report back on.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
