I'd certainly go along with Vint's orchestral recommendations - wonderful bargains, all of them. But a remark to Vinteuil himself - how very strange that BIS issued a set of four boxes of the cantatas with no intention of releasing the rest in the same sort of edition...a bit galling for those that bought them, no?

... galling, very. But I took a deep breath and bought one-by-one discs 41-55. And I do for the moment think that the Suzuki set is my favourite. But I still yearn after the Koopman. And I shall want to collect the various Kuijkens...

        Does this qualify as OCD?

Bruckner's obsessions were cheaper. Have you tried counting the leaves on a tree?

My goodness, you must have so much shelf space, Vints...I would love to get all those, but I have to content myself with just the classic Harnoncourt/Leonhardt set, which is still a joy to listen to. I also hankered after the special box of collected cantatas and sacred music that Herreweghe recorded for Harmonia Mundi - did you get all those too?

If you are after the Solo Cantatas, I can recommend a reliable emporium.

A little stocking filler. An absolute delight.

Musically it's a great disc...you just have to get used to seeing Emma Kirkby in a mob cap and a bewigged David Thomas on the cover!

Further to my previous Bach enquiry on this thread.
Sorry to take up more of your time but anyone got any thoughts on this set http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-All-Baro...box+of+baroque.

As well as Bach you get some Lully,Rameau (I know nothing buy these guys),Purcell etc, seems like a decent bargain for a Baroque novice.

Still haven't fully recovered from hearing the B Minor Mass for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

I wonder if I'm the only forumite who doesn't have a copy of Vivaldi's Four Seasons ?.

                            Thanks in advance

I don't possess the Four Seasons and only acquired the B minor Mass a year or so ago.

One day I will take to Bach.

I'm gradually collecting the four seasons.
