I must say. After hearing this Rach 2 twice in 1 week on the Radio I'm going to steer clear of it for a few years.
When you've heard it a couple of million times you notice some things. Did Prokofiev like this one? The rhythmn in mvt 2 before the main tune of the scherzo reappears is used on Prokofiev Scythian Suite mvt 1 drum rhythmn bit.
And the solo clarinet at the start of the development section mvt 1 is used in the middle of Prokofiev symphony no.3 finale. Has anyone else noticed this?

An interesting coupling as well- not a piece I've some across before.
