I started a thread about a new recording I was interested in discussing and in finding out what people thought about it, but we've discussed all sorts of things apart from that! What did we have 1% or replies about "A Tale"? Maybe??
It's fine to discuss all sorts of music styles, interpreters, performers, recordings, etc.. but then that should be a thread like "all sorts of stuff', 'miscellaneous" or something like that.
    End of rant.
Oh, we all go Off Topic frequently on these Boards - somebody on the "Favourite Shostakovich" Thread started talking about Piazzolla the other day - but the Tonic almost always comes back after and during all the modulations.

(PS, I'll second Barbie's recommendation of Ralph Holmes' recording of the Delius Violin Concerto. Like you, I couldn't really get very thrilled by it before I heard this. Love the 'cello and Double Concertos, though: the end of the latter is marvellous - Laa, daa, daa-yeeedah dah daah, daaah! [That's me trying to cyber sing a Delius melody. Believe me, the real thing is much, much worse.)

Perhaps you are being a bit over pushy - I suspect you are using a mobile device and looking at and responding to everything that comes in almost immediately. Not everyone does this, and sometimes it may take a day or two to get a reply. ThIs may in fact mean that you are neglecting other parts of your life. I'm guilty of that too - probably means I don't have anything better to do, or I'm putting off something else. You might find that if you go away for a day and do other things you can spend your time more profitably, and the board will still be here when you come back. Don't only use the forums to get answers for yourself - it's not just for your benefit - but also help others. If you wait a bit you may find this rewarding. I also suspect you may be around 30 years younger than some who frequent these pages. We need more young and enthusiastic people, but please be gentle with us!

You are quite right there, I do check with my phone , though I fond it easier to reply from my laptop.
I see it can be quite addictive, like other social networks, I suppose. I may well follow your advice and dip in and out the forum occasionally. With three children, school runs, usual housework, after school clubs and Saturdays in London going back and forth between Guildhall and the RCM, I need 32 hour-days!!

If there are two things you are putting off, and you can't decide which to do first then messing around on here instead is known as "Displacement activity", I think !!

I remember that ad at the V&A years ago. The 'ace cafe' sold us a small slice of dry ham, half a tomato each and a bit of lettuce.
I can't remember the cost but we never ate there again. Not a bad museum though

TBF, the shop is lovely, though a bit on the expensive side.
