The sonata is ok...I said I am not a great fan of Britten, still, his operas seem to be very successful. I am not a great fan of RVW either (I may have a whole nation against me now!), most of his stuff goes on forever (I am still awaiting the release of "The Lark Descending", about time, I think?!)

are you not confusing RVW with Delius?

There is no challenge to face up to. I have listened several times to the Bachmann and for me it does not lend itself to repeated listening. And do stop patronsing, it does you no favours.

Sorry Coco,I am an absolute RVW nut and I'm going to have to inflict my lark poem on you,it's your own fault

                            My beautiful ascending lark.
Your critics are wide of the mark.

                            Overworked by Radio three.
When you rise and begin to round.
I love that silver chain of sound.
Over the course of many years.
You've brought sheer delight to my ears.
And so much pleasure still to give.
I'll love you as long as I live.

                              That's brilliant!!
Almost better than the original work itself! (I said almost)
