EMI/Warner Icons - what other releases would you like to see ?

I can start this rolling I should like to see the following in EMI Icon boxes

    1 Annie Fischer

    2 Ida Haendel

    3 Paul Kletzki

    4 Paul Tortelier

5 Barbirolli - some of the less familiar stuff that is not presently available and including his Otello .

Sargent, to include Rachmaninov 3rd Symphony and Sibelius Symphonies (including the 2nd).

Yes,Sargent would be good, there is an Eroica of course too - I must admit I had no idea Knappertsbusch had ever recorded for EMI .

Just mentioning Sargent briefly, his Ma Vlast is - perhaps surprisingly - well worth a listen.

And just to add to the list started here: Christian Ferras
I think he may just about have made enough recordings on EMI to warrant an Icon box?

There is already an excellent 4 disc Christian Ferras box of chamber music on Brilliant Classics. which includes the Brahms and Schumann sonatas plus Franck and Lekeu. These are DG recordings, but there are none of his concerto recordings. I'm not sure if EMI Icon issues are able to include material from other sources, especially now that they have been taken over by Warner.

Indeed it is, as is the Dvorak Variations with which it was coupled on LP. As far as I know the Sibelius 2 and Rachmaninov 3 (both mono) have never appeared on CD. I also notice that his BBCSO Planets is currently unavailable, and perhaps an ICON box needs to mop up quite a few overlooked Holst recordings, and German, and Britten, and...

A third vote for Sargent's Ma Vlast to add to visnick's and AM's. I think salymap is very fond of it, too.

Would there be much left over once the 20 disc Great EMI Recordings box has been taken account of?

But that could be in the Sargent box. Another vintage Dvorak CC not economically available is the Rostropovich RPO Boult. However I think we all may be whistling in the wind as there is no strong sign that Warner are likely to reissue ICON fashion and even if they do, not at the knockdown prices that the dying EMI regime had them at!

There are a number of new Icons out from Warner this month .

They tend not to put concertos in conductor boxes.

Does this "rule" apply to stuff that is well-clear of the 50-year limit? This is where it all gets rather complicated.

Is this going to close down the classicalmusicmobile website which has many old recordings downloadable for €1?
