Having invested in the cheap Collard/Previn set - which is marvellously played - I am reinforced in my admiration for 2 ,4 and 5 but No 3 seems to be notespinning for me . 1 a trial run.

I do think No2 deserves its popularity.

I'll bet I'm the only person who remembers the actress/pianist Yvonne Arnaud's wonderful performance of no. 2 years ago.

      Sheer magic

Collard's No.2 is superb IMHO. If you have the reissued EMI Double set, does the spine attribute the conducting to Maazel rather than Previn? Mine does...

Any recommendations - Roge and Collard seem a great deal cheaper than the Hough .
Hold down the Alt key and enter 130. an acute accented é will appear when you release the Alt key.

          Have a nice day.

          HS

BTW Valerie Tryon used to play both of those works superbly

Thanks for that tip HS . Judging by how well Valerie Tryon's recent Mozart concerto disc and her disc of Spanish music have been received - the past tense might not be appropriate !

I was trying not to mention Anne Robinson, though she's not 79.

What have Saint Saens' piano concertos to do with either witches or dragons?
