Oddly enough I thrilled to Harnoncourt's Schumann again precisely because of the prominence of the brass/winds in climaxes and the excellent fullness & impact in the bass registers. But each to her own of course.

Even better than I remembered with outstanding sound too, as good as the Dausgaard, even a little warmer and more spacious. The COE/NH partnership was at its peak then - easy to forget what a great orchestra they can be. Especially in that lovely Stefaniensaal Graz acoustic.Don’t cry for me

Outstandingly natural sound, and it includes one of the best Overture,Scherzo and Finale(s) I've heard. Just try a bit at a time as a download.
I absolutely LOVE Dausgaard's way with the Spring Symphony! Tempo choices and orchestral flair fantastic.

Currently to pinned my chair each early morning by those extraordinary Hanover Band Horns! Leaping out at me from centre-left...wonderful!
Some reservations about the longer line... but another fascinating, very well and analytically-recorded cycle with Goodman, and an altogether outstanding 1841/4th, one of the best I've heard in a strong field.(Harnoncourt, JEG, Dausgaard etc)... and also omitted (like too much else that is distinctive) from the recent BaL....
The O-S-F is top-notch too. Need more time with the 2 and 3...but the clarity, the close-up view upon the terracing of the orchestra is exceptional. You could almost write down the score from the recording (well, with the requisite aural gifts of course..).
