I read on Amazon that it apparently will back date it's self to all current "Autorip" CDs purchased since 1999. I can't tell you if this is true or not and I'm far too tired to look for the post.

I'm against downloads as I think the move away from physical media is dangerous. One day it's there the next it could be wiped from the history books. Of course this is unlikely to happen today but in 50 years time if there isn't a replacement physical format I think it very well could. :(

Yes, it picks up previous purchases.

And yes, e-music could be wiped. It's a risk worth taking though in my opinion because the likelihood is low (even though the impact is disastrous). Plenty of mitigation of the risk is possible too.

Just checked all my newly added to cloud CD purchases from the past , and there is one that I certainly didn't purchase.

                      Odd.

Edit: Checked it on my order history and definitely doesn't show.

So now I can enjoy RVW's Old King Cole ballet suite for free.

One anomaly that Auto-Rip throws up occurs in the not infrequent case of a cd being cheaper than the equivalent download. Last week I decided to purchase Gloriana on mp3. From memory it was around £11.99. Instead I purchased the cd for around a tenner complete with free download. In other words, £2 cheaper and a free cd

It's not on the computer. It's on the cloud. It doesn't eat up hard drive. Thats the point.
