    TBH, I thought the recent Jansons RCO Leningrad was overrated, both in comparison to other classics and indeed his own earlier version. I am a fan of Jansons' earlier stuff (a riveting Honneger collections, Oslo Tchaikovsky, etc) but like so many other conductors, age doesn't seem to do his conducting any favours , at least on disc (to my ears that is)..

      I tend to agree and wonder if Jansons' well-documented and on-going health concerns have had a negative impact on his music making?
