So..... Warners have purchased EMI/Virgin classics and their plans are as follows.
“Our acquisition of the renowned labels, EMI Classics and Virgin Classics, will open up huge scope for us to reinvigorate our approach to classical music, starting with the development of a new brand for our activities in this genre." (my emphasis)

Does this really mean that EMI Classics is no more ?
I sort of get the whole brand thing. But don't they realise that "consumers" of classical CDs/DVDs are (mostly) a fairly conservative bunch that have a high regard for heritage? I'm still struggling with seeing the Beaux Arts Trio, Brendel, Quartetto Italiano on Decca.....
