PS don't forget the Schornsheim and the Koopman...

The LHQ's Op. 9 and 17 sets are also very special.
Have just succumbed to a tempting email from Amazon offering the LHQ Haydn op. 20 for £ 13.75.
Have also listened to & read many praiseworthy reviews. What I have heard can sound a bit ' scrawny ' ( ? ) at times but one can adjust to this. As with the Bach 'cello suites, stop thinking of some being ' better ' than others, they are quite simply different & one should be prepared to accept & welcome a whole family of ' differences.'
Thanks for your previous comments on behalf of LHQ.

Many thanks, Bryn. I too succumbed. The London Haydn Quartet CDs are a joy. No Haydn lover should be without...

The Eybler Quartet's Haydn op.33 disc is wonderful. Not that I expect many Haydnists are in the market for a new HIP op.33, having ordered the London Haydn Quartet's new release, but it really is exquisitely played and the recording has superb detail and balance. I believe the Eyblers are made up of members of Tafelmusik.
