So none of yer 6,000 disc box sets here please.

The name of the game - pass it on. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

    To start off:

Elgar 1: Mackerras/LSO (Argos), as mentioned on BBM's Elgar Symphonies thread. Available here for a whopping £0.01. Condition: Very good.
Throps - an excellent idea for a thread and what a bargain this is! Highly recommended

    Cheaps.

Yes! From your pseudonym this sounds right up your street!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

oh I see.....that would explain some stuff.
But to stay cosily on topic, this arrived at Teamsaint Towers today, alliteratively speaking. Don't know how they compare with others, but as an introduction to these works, surely you can't go wrong at £2.27 including p and p ?

trouble is Throppo, you get spoiled and start thinking of £3.00 as a bit steep !!
I'm certainly not done yet though...(and BUY THE BLISS !!!!)

Edit have had a little blitz on Haydn SQ's also, in a sort of "random but trying to follow Aeolium's recommendations" way.(recommended works, not versions.)
Here are a couple of frinstances.

I've been singing the praises of that performance on the Elgar threads and at a penny it would be criminal not to buy.

If you fancy taking a punt on some lesser known British symphonies I can recommend this

to slightly go off topic, or at least to turn it round , if anybody could suggest a good cheap version of the Goldberg variations/Glenn Gould I would be grateful. A baffling choice out there.

Seconded. Snap them up folks! Now where have these discs been lurking since the 90s and where's the sellers margin?

Indeed it is, but as teamsaint observes one needs to retain the sense of proportion i.e. on a bad day (very occasionally) at the car boot I've wandered off muttering "I'm not paying a Quid for that" Should have!!

But usually I wander back and amongst Joe Public there are fortunately few other takers!
